ABC’s (K-2nd)
Alphabet books are so much fun – let’s get together and write one! Of course we all know our ABC’s, but have you ever wondered how an alphabet book is put together? Using words, pictures and anything else we can imagine, we’ll create brand new alphabet magic!
Story Behind the Scenery (2nd – 6th)
What do you see in a famous work of art? How does the artist create balance in the story their images tell? Does an illustration change the way a story is told? Sometimes looking at things in new ways is all that’s necessary to change the way we see a story. Working together we’ll unravel the art of the story, unmask authors who are illustrators and uncover the creative voice within us all.
Writing A Magical Journey (3-8th grades)
Port keys, rabbit holes and enchanted board games are just some of the ways to begin an adventure into who knows where! Using favorite books and stories as inspiration, Heidi will help you write a magical journey all your own.
Do You See What I See? Exploring Different Points of View (4th – 8th)
How would the story of “The Three Little Pigs” be different if you looked at things from the wolf’s perspective? Have you ever wondered how Rumplestiltskin felt when the princess found out his name? Was Snow White’s witch really evil or just having an identity crisis? Using familiar fairy tales, we’ll play with different points of view and see how many ways there are to approach the same story.
Putting a Story Together (4th – 8th)
Using theater games, interactive storytelling and our imaginations we’ll discover how a story is put together. We’ll play with adjectives, identify protagonists and soar through the action of an original on-the-spot piece written by the class.
Getting Rid of the Cobwebs: Colorful Characters, Scintillating Settings
and Unfettered Fiction (9th – 12th)
Are you stuck? Do you feel like your writing is going no where? Do you struggle with starting a story? Do you feel your creative muse bought a one-way ticket to the Bahamas and left you behind? In this interactive class you will explore many different ways to rediscover your passion for writing and fire up your creative voice.
The Power of the Mighty Idea: Uncovering the Magic (grades 4 - 8 )
Be prepared for the unexpected. Discover where ideas come from. Uncover the magic of the creativity within each one of you. This session is energetic and guaranteed to raise the roof!
